World Space Week at the “Gheorghe Ţiţeica” School, Constanta, CT

At the “Gheorghe Ţiţeica” school, students from grades 3 to 7 (9-10 / 13-14 years old) took part in the activities organized during World Space Week. Grades 3D and 4D, under the guidance of their primary teachers Gabriela Florea and Rodica Radu, made models of the solar system using recyclable materials and plasticine. Before this activity they had studied encyclopedias, watched Power Point Show presentations and videos made by students and the librarian, Mrs. Anca Mosoiu. 4B students and their primary teacher Mariana Chirila visited the Planetarium in Constantza. They also used different drawing techniques to illustrate A Starry Night and they made up an interesting model made of cork representing The Sun, the Moon and the Stars. Secondary school students wrote short Romanian-English messages and essays on "The Universe" helped by their Geography teacher Melania Gabur and their teacher of English Carmen Petrescu. They also made a wall pane with photographs of the sky taken by them. Some of the students made up models of rockets from recyclable materials and instructed by their Chemistry teacher Dorina Foroglu they made the experiment Crystals from the Moon. 5D students and their class master Georgeta Buzgaru competed launching balloon rockets.The competition was organized in the schoolyard. All the participants received diplomas and the outcome of their work was made public.
